Main dish:
  • 24 Nuremberg Rostbratwurst sausages
  • 3 medium size potatoes
  • 1 small clove of garlic
  • 80 ml cream
  • 100 ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons of grated hard cheese
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • Butter, salt, pepper, nutmeg

Potato and sausage casserole

A casserole like this is something truly wonderful! The oven does most of the work! And while this is doing the cooking you have plenty of time to lay the table.


  1. Peel the potatoes and chop them into thin slices. Cut the Nuremberg Rostbratwurst sausages into slices and place them in alternate layers with the potatoes in a buttered casserole dish.
  2. Peel the cloves of garlic and cut into small pieces. Mix them with the milk and cream and spice with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Pour all the mixture over the potato and sausage slices.
  3. Finally sprinkle with the grated hard cheese and bake at 180°C for about 40 minutes until the potatoes are cooked and the surface is golden brown in colour.
